Drawing New York proudly presented an oil painting demonstration by artist Jennifer Gennari at LaMama La Galleria with special guest model Daniel Doubrovkine, C.T.O of Artsy on March 20th, 2018. Artist Kelly Foss monitored the comments on the LIVE STREAM making sure we had great questions from Our Facebook Page for the artist.
About 35 people attended in person and nearly 1000 people viewed the LIVE STREAM online during the broadcast. Jennifer generously shared her knowledge, skills, artistry and engaging personality with everyone.
Jennifer’s palette included Yellow Ochre, English Red, Vermillion, Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Emerald Green, Lead White and Ivory Black. She uses a little bit of Turnpenoid when staining her 11″x14″ Oil Primed Linen Panel. She only used Linseed Oil while painting. She used Escoda Classico Brushes along with a few other brands. Biography: Jennifer Gennari is a classically trained figurative artist. She graduated in 2005 from Ringling College of Art and Design and in 2008 left for Italy to study at the Florence Academy of Art where she spent three years abroad studying classical realism under Daniel Graves.
Jennifer returned to New York in 2011 and started working as a painting assistant to Jeff Koons. She eventually left to pursue teaching at the National Academy Museum and School, the Long Island Academy of Fine Art and instructs students privately from her studio in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
Jennifer has written a book on drawing the human figure and has also hosted an online class through Craftsy that instructs beginners on the techniques used in creating traditional portraits.
Jennifer’s work has been shown internationally and has received multiple awards and honors.
