This video is fascinating for several reasons. We get to see the inner working of a conservators practice and the courage it takes to work on a drawing of such importance.
We also get a glimpse into Rockwell’s working practice; how he created a full-scale fully rendered charcoal drawing of his work before painting. After reworking the paper until it longer received charcoal, he would draw on fresh paper and rubber cement pieces to the main drawing.
A fascinating piece in many ways.
