Tombow Pencils

Drawing New York
Member Admin

I have tried tons of pencils over the years and have found each to have a different quality. Currently, I am using Tombow pencils because they feel quite smooth on the paper.

There have been times where I preferred a harder pencil that created more friction and drag as I worked.

Finally, I have not been very loyal of late to the pencil number (ie 2B or 4B) but have been moving around the scale a little just varying my pressure. This is fairly new for me but seems to be serving me well.

What pencils do you currently use?

Figurative Artist Handbook: Modeling the Form

Great figure drawings are informative. They describe a movement from a basic description of the overall geometry of the mass to a more general anatomical description, and then to an even more specific explanation of where the light and shadow fall on those forms.
