Columbus Circle Graphite on Watercolor Paper

Drawing New York
Member Admin

This is a graphite drawing on Arches Watercolor Paper of Columbus Circle in New York City.

This method was developed when I wanted to do a preliminary sketch for a watercolor painting but got so into the drawing I never switched over to paint.

I have been loving this combination of mediums.

Figurative Artist Handbook: Modeling the Form

Great figure drawings are informative. They describe a movement from a basic description of the overall geometry of the mass to a more general anatomical description, and then to an even more specific explanation of where the light and shadow fall on those forms.
