Join us for four Mondays of Introduction to Oil Painting taught by artist and instructor Kelly Foss. All materials are included. Each attendee is provided oil paint, a canvas, brushes, an easel, stool with a back, disposable palette, Gamsol (odorless thinner) and a small table for supplies. Sessions run three hours. You must purchase a spot before attending.
- Week 1. Learn to mix a grayscale and create a value strip for future reference. Set up and paint a simple-shapes value study.
- Week 2. Begin color theory and practice mixing colors. Paint a small poster study with brown and blue (warm and cool).
- Week 3. Continue Color Theory and paint a full-color study.
- Week 4. Paint a single-item still life with full-color and value.
Painting may be stored on sight during enrollment and should be taken by attendees at the end of the final session.
There is never any photography allowed while models are posing. Headsets are okay for music so long as the volume is low enough not to be heard by others. Classical music is typically played at low levels during sessions.
For everyone’s safety, our room is monitored by a video camera. By signing up for sessions you are agreeing to and accept this arrangement.
