Join us for four Mondays of Still Life Painting taught by artist and instructor Kelly Foss. (All materials are included.)
Each attendee is provided oil paint, a canvas, brushes, an easel, stool with a back, disposable palette, Gamsol (odorless thinner) and a small table for supplies.
July sessions are Mon. 8, 15, 22, 29. Sessions run three hours. You must purchase a spot before attending.
Week 1. Learn how to set up a dynamic still life using man-made items and how to set the pose to improve accuracy and ease. After drawing the still life, next up is “inking in”.
Week 2. Over last week’s drawing do a “wipe-out” to set the still life’s values. Begin color theory; learn about hues, chroma, and values. Practice mixing colors. Paint a small poster study.
Week 3. A demo on how to do an underpainting, a “first pass” and a “final pass” for a still life. Work on final painting with full-color and values.
Week 4. Continue working on the final painting. Learn about finishing techniques and how the final touches can bring the piece to life.
Painting may be stored on sight during enrollment and should be taken by attendees at the end of the final session.
There is never any photography allowed while models are posing. Headsets are okay for music so long as the volume is low enough not to be heard by others. Classical music is typically played at low levels during sessions.
For everyone’s safety, our room is monitored by a video camera. By signing up for sessions you are agreeing to and accept this arrangement.
